The Salon for Astrological Discourse  will meet again this month.  Here’s the chart.…   You don’t have to be an accomplished astrologer to see the stellium in Pisces.  Soon, Mars and Venus will move into Aries and the energy will change, again, dramatically. But for now, Chiron sits between them, and I see an opportunity here.

Regardless of what side of the political, social, economic, educational, or religious fence you’re on, our differences continue to devolve down to the lowest common denominator which is our gender differences, and our differing definitions of what that means.   Are there still just 2 kinds of people in the world, as Barbra sang so many years ago in the song People?   Male?  Female?    In a book by Leonard Schlain he wrote about how our language and our social systems have all evolved around the basic theme of man vs woman, and we know that we are now witnessing the death throes of the Patriarchy…..  Anyway, Chiron between Mars/Venus reminds me of this ‘wound’ and depending on your particular state of consciousness, belief system, or recovery from damaging relationbships, one could actually use this time towards mending fences in whatever Piscean way suits you.

In the years running up to 2012, I was reading a lot regarding ancient calendars particularly the Mayan one.  It took some study and discussion with teachers before I felt I understood the metaphysics and astrological patterns that were driving this significant shift in our energy field and what all that meant.   I closely followed the transits of Chiron during that time and you can read some of those posts here, in reverse chronological order.  Today, in 2017, in hindsight, it’s easy to see how the symbolism has manifested in this new reality we all find ourselves living in.

Neptune  will remain in Pisces long after the others have moved on.  It’s way out there so each degree it moves into opens up new pathways, so to speak.  Today as I write this Neptune is nearly complete with the 11th degree, and according to the Sabian Symbols this degree represents:

MEN TRAVELING A NARROW PATH, SEEKING ILLUMINATION.  The keynote reads:  The capacity inherent in every individual to seek at whatever cost entrance to to a transcendent realm of reality.  It refers to the eternal symbol of the Path of Discipleship.   the Path is always open to the pure in heart, the mentally aware, the conpueror of emotions and the spiritually self-mobilized.

Marc Edmund Jones, 10/1/1888 – 3/8/1980,  was the astrologer who ‘created’ the Sabian Symbols, and he taught that astrology “properly used” can help people see more clearly their own tendencies. Once seen, we can then apply our free will to adjust, modify, change, or ignore what has been seen. Our evolutionary engine depends on our ability to learn & grow in this fashion.

Anyway, it’s easy to see how our Salon can dig into some of this material and I look forward to hearing many voices.

…..more later.   Check out this winter’s  Inquire Within© intensive.  We’ll be delving into all this experientially, and more.

She’s holding at 23 Aries and retrograde.

The Sabian Symbol is:

A PREGNANT WOMAN IN LIGHT SUMMER’S DRESS with the Keynote word as “Fecundity”  Dane Rudyhar goes on to write about this degree. “This is the third stage of the fifth five-fold sequence of cyclic phases,  It combines the two preceding ones and suggests INNER FULFILLMENT.”

hRMpf!  Not with Saturn there, that’s for sure! It’s been a rough time for Earth’s population.   Eris, the goddess of strife, is all about tension and the zodiac sign of  Aries is always ready for action. (more tension) Being opposed (180 degrees of separation) for so long(months, and month, and months!) has certainly brought  a keener understanding that the rules and obligations we have been living under have , just perhaps, become irrelevant?

Saturn will be moving into Scorpio in early Oct.  Eris will be less restricted in manifesting some inner fulfillment then.

Maybe?

May all beings be kind. May all beings be in peace.  May all beings live in ease. ,

Our ephemeris tells us that she’s currently orbiting the sector of the zodiac labeled: 20 degrees of Aquarius.

On Aug. 3, 2008, two days after the August 1 Solar Eclipse at 9 Leo, Chiron retrogrades back to the 19th degree of Aquarius.  (Chiron figures into this Eclipse in a pretty big way….as does Neptune and the North Node.)

Let’s look at the Sabian Symbol for these specific degrees and get a *sense* of the meaning.   (Saturn currently moving through Virgo encourages us to be more *discriminating*.  Details & small print require increased attention.)

The following references are taken directly from Dane Rudyhar’s brilliant book AN ASTROLOGICAL MANDALA: The Cycle of Transformations and its 360 symbolic phases.

20 deg. AQ. – A LARGE WHITE DOVE BEARING A MESSAGE.

The Keynote says: The answer of spiritual agencies to thorough, sustained and victorious individual efforts.

19 deg. AQ. – A FOREST FIRE IS BEING SUBDUED BY THE USE OF WATER, CHEMICALS AND SHEER MUSCULAR ENERGY.

The Keynote says:  “The skill and courage necessary to bring under control the destructive potential of carelessness of karmic ‘visitations’.

She moves to the 18th degree on Aug 22 where we find:

A MAN’S SECRET MOTIVES ARE BEING PUBLICLY UNMASKED.

The Keynote:  The difficulty for the modern individual to keep secret his private past or his deeper motives.

On November 15 she goes stationary direct in the 22nd degree of Aquarius. A RUG IS PLACED ON THE FLOOR OF A NURSERY TO ALLOW CHILDREN TO PLAY IN COMFORT AND WARMTH.  The Keynote is: The warmth of understanding which comes to those who, early in life, are open to new possibilities.

Chiron is a major player these days and usually overlooked by many astrologers.  Her upcoming conjunction with Neptune has great potential for healing the wounds that bind us thru spiritual & alternative practices.  I’ve written some on Chiron in these posts for you to read.  I hope to write more soon.

chaostheory….around the cosmos these days. The recent new moon has jumpstarted the energy that was forecast by the recent equinox/full moon. This lunar month promises to keep things stirred up for a while.

Meanwhile, much further away than the moon, on April 4 Eris moved to 21AR01’58”, a mile-marker for this distant planetoid. The Sabian Symbol for this degree reads: THE GATE TO THE GARDEN OF ALL FULFILLED DESIRES. The keynote says: Abundance made possible by human together-ness and cooperation. Eris will remain in this degree until November, 2008…which, interestingly, coincides with the next shift of the Mayan Calendar, the beginning of Day Six.

Given all that I’ve been following with spinning planets, ancient calendars, and A New Earth birthing, it’s become increasingly important to continue with my yoga practice. How else can we possibly integrate all that is happening? Being Here and Now feels good and removes the stress of multiple possibilities in a changing world.

Early this morning I read Barbara Hand Clow’s New Moon horoscope which was the inspiration for this post. Below is a small part of her article (including the link so you can read all of it).

From the perspective of the Mayan Calendar and astrology, we are in the darkest days of Night Five, and I feel like I am seeing the probabilities very clearly. With this New Moon in Aries, we enter the most critical phase of the Galactic Underworld since it began in 1999-a phase I label “evolutionary bifurcation.” Using Chaos Theory (an advanced math system examining the way natural systems change and evolve), a bifurcation happens when an old evolutionary pattern is collapsing while a new wave is building. During great evolutionary shifts, mature species are no longer able to adapt to changing conditions, such as the extinction of the dinosaurs when placental mammals emerged 63 million years ago. With the breaking point-the bifurcation-evolution continues through new species while the old ones die off. This is always a very dangerous moment for any creature that wants to survive. As humans, if we are to survive, we must move to a more cosmic level and re-enter the universe. We need to consciously flow with the new wave while keeping ourselves free from the collapsing systems.

When you look at all of the astrological aspects within the context of the Mayan Calendar it all makes perfect sense. I am reminded of the Chinese curse, “May you live in interesting times.”

It’s getting very interesting.

On a personal note, I’ve entered the balsamic phase of my personal lunar cycle. Phew. Resting will feel good today.

fear not

The Jupiter/Pluto conjunction of 2007 began on December 11 at twenty-nine degrees of Sagittarius. When planets come into conjunction a new cycle begins. Phases are the individual parts of a cycle.  (more on cycles & phases always, check back again)

The Sabian Symbol for 29SAG is:

A FAT BOY MOWING THE LAWN OF HIS HOUSE ON AN ELEGANT SUBURBAN STREET.

The Keynote reads, “the need to attend to everyday tasks which both ensure social worth or respectability, and benefits one’s constitution.

Hmmm.

It may indeed be time for some economic adjustments.

Jupiter is going to show us how to do this when he moves his girth and expansive gifts to Capricorn….sometime over the next week. Here’s where we gain some understanding of how status, reputation, and tradition show up in our lives. Pluto is going to transform all of that. Yup. I can see that happening.

The question is, just how painful (or pleasurable) will the cycle be? Most people opt for one or the other, which maintains lila.

What if we just do nothing?

What if we just continue our yoga practice of ‘being’?

What if we gave a war and no one showed up?

What if all the people holding guns on the planet just put them down and walked away?

Jupiter will be in Capricorn for 12 years.

That’s a time period that gives us plenty of breathing room.

Take a breath, now.

Things are going to get interesting.

Fear Not!

Astrology Planets and their Cycles Pluto Yoga

There has always been a lot of *fear* around eclipses. One can only imagine what it must have felt like to observe the moon or sun go dark in the sky. The memories and feelings of that primal fear live on in our ‘old’ brain and continue to run like a silent computer program in the background. What do you think would happen if we used all of the power of our attention to dis-engage the fear button? Think about it. Practice.  Take a conscious, deep breath every time you feel fear. Go to a yoga class to learn the subtleties of breathing.

eclipse

The September 11, 2007 Solar Eclipse occurs at 18 Vir 24 using the Western (tropical) zodiac. In the Eastern (sidereal) zodiac, the eclipse is occuring at 24 Leo 32′. degree.) There’s approximately 24-25 degrees difference between these two systems of astronomical measurement. (Google: Ayanamsa.)

Marc Edmund Jones, 10/1/1888 – 3/8/1980, the astrologer who ‘created’ the Sabian Symbols, taught that astrology “properly used” can help people see more clearly their own tendencies. Once seen, we can then apply our free will to adjust, modify, change, or ignore what has been seen. Our evolutionary engine depends on our ability to learn & grow in this fashion.

The sabian symbol for 19Virgo is: A SWIMMING RACE. (When you work with the sabian symbols you always round up to the next degree. You can also go here to read more of what I’ve been exploring with Sabian Symbols)

In his book, An Astrological Mandala, D. Rudyhar interprets this image as “The stimulation that comes from a group effort toward a spiritual goal.” Hmmm.

What would happen if our spiritual goal was: *peace in the moment, no matter what* ?

Rudyhar goes on to remind us not assume that the image symbolizes competition.
In fact, he then says that ” the personal ego-centered ambition to succeed and to be “first” is indeed a sign of expectable, spiritual failure.” Yikes!

I didn’t know there was such a thing as spiritual ‘failure’. Oh dear.

It does pose a dilemma, this image, (A Swimming Race) pointing to our issues around competition, success, failure, and how a competitive path interferes with spiritual rewards. He concludes by pointing us towards emulation. ….hmmmm.

Now, I’m wondering if Dane Rudyhar’s sabian symbols can be used with Jyotish, the Vedic system of astrology? I don’t recall ever reading or hearing any of my Jyotish teachers refer to these symbols. In fact the teachers were always quick to remind us NOT to apply western astrological techniques to eastern charts, and vice versa. (That’s surely something to meditate on…………..)
Jyotish does, in fact, have it’s own methodology for referencing each of the 360 degrees in the zodiac. They, too, use their discriminative faculties to identify incredibly subtle differences and broad sameness. (note to astrologers: please feel free to comment on this)

So, let’s break the rules for a moment and integrate these two astrological systems and see what happens.

book jacketThe sabian symbol (a western technique) for 25deg of Leo (the degree of the eclipse according to Vedic Astrologers. ) states: A LARGE CAMEL IS SEEN CROSSING A VAST AND FORBIDDING DESERT.
Self-sufficiency in the face of a long and exhausting adventure.
Rudyhar recommends, ” total independence from our surroundings and uncompromising persistence.”Hmm. How’s that sound? Reminds me a little of all of the forecasts from ERIS!!

So, let’s see what kind of theme’s play out over the next few months and look for how these images manifest in your personal world, and the external world. See for yourself how the essence of these themes get expressed. Of course each of us responds to eclipse energy differently. There will be those who are strongly affected, and those who are not. Consult your local astrologer and get a reading.

May all beings live in peace, no matter what.

Om Shanti.
