Namaste, Followers

Thank you for following  my blog, The Teacher’s Journal, for so many years.  There are other follower’s at yogini.wordpress which was where I began blogging.

Much has changed.  For me, rearranging my writing life, whether for work or pleasure, is a priority these days.

So, after research, time & procrastination I’ve set up a Substack publication which I hope to grow whichever way the wind blows.  Meanwhile, it’ll re-inspire me to write to you more.  It feels like a platform that supports writers and connects us…safely.  And, I need more connection.

So,  if you’ve enjoyed my posts and want to read more find me now on Substack

I’ve titled my publication The World is My Ashram.  It feels like a fitting title for nearly all my interests that have a spiritual component.  Please subscribe.  It’s free.  You’ll get an email when I post.  And,  I’m allowing comments.  If you are a bot…you will be blocked.

Over time I’ll be cherry-picking various posts from The Teacher’s Journal and exporting them over to Substack.

That’s the pLaN 🙂

namaste.

WHO’S WHO?

Who's Who?

They’ve been in the news alot lately, getting analyzed every which way.  So, I got curious and gathered together their birth info to create this who’s who on the Supreme Court in Dec.2022.  Can you figure out who’s who?  It’s a fun little exercise if learning astrology.  Each of these charts was calculated only from mo/dd/yr of birth.  No time or location was used.  I’ve place the SUN on the Horizon, since it’s pretty easy to assume that their ego’s are prominent.  More will be revealed.

There’s so much data/information in just this small slice of judicial role models it boggles the mind.  Still, it’s a good place to begin a conversation…..

It’s my intention to write an article with which to compare my discoveries with others pursuing the same perspective.  Of course, we still have to look at the chart for the USA to get some context.   They don’t call them “birth pains” for nothing.

You might want to read this first.….?

A week ago the moon passed thru the Aries portion of the zodiac where she tackled the complications that arise from Jupiter, Chiron, Mars, and Eris in Aries as well.    She’s calmer now in Taurus.

But!  Mars is pretty fiery & hot and so close now to Eris that I fear we’re about to see a lot of firewords until July 6 when Mars, having exhausted himself, as is his nature, rests for a bit in Taurus.  Mars customarily spends about 6 weeks in a zodiac sign.  That’s the normal rhythm of the universe for him.  However, because of retrograde motion Mars will be in Gemini for  (August 21, 2022 – March 26, 2023)  SEVEN MONTHS!  OMG!    FYI   (This is important for those of us who will participate in Beyond Words

For now, remember to take note of what’s happening  in your life around August 21, when Mars crawls from Taurus into Gemini.   Mars will return nearly to this point in time  during his backward motion of this seven-month (yipes!!) retrograde journey.   Mars rules Scorpio as well as Aries, so both those sun sign will feel the slow down motion most, perhaps?    The retrograde period begins late October and lasts until Jan, 2023.  That’s 2 solid months of backward motion in Gemini.  It isn’t until Spring, 2023 before he reaches the 26th degree from where the Rx began.

Eris & Mars form a conjunction on June 27 at 24 degrees of Aries.  The God of War meets The Goddess of War in Aries.  Volumes will be written of the events that will continue until at least 2025.

more later……………   much to discuss, ponder, and contemplate..

The name Chiron comes from the word chiros.    Astrologically, Chiron represents our essential wound and provides much information on how/when to heal from it.  The erratic orbit of the asteroid symbolizes weaving together the traditional and the alternative to create hybrid paths towards healing what hurts us.  The glyph, which looks like a key, symbolizes what becomes possible when we unlock/unblock our internal/unconscious wounds.  Additional keywords for Chiron are here.

Chiron entered Aries early this year and will remain until April, 2027 when he collapses into Taurus.   The last time Chiron was in Aries was 1970 but that was before it’s discovery, which means that, this current transit in Aries will be the first time we are experiencing it ‘consciously’.   In Aries, it’s all out front, nothing much is hidden.  Chiron here will be interesting.

Mars moves fast compared to Chiron.  Every 2 years Mars comes back to the same place.  Mars entered Aries at the end of June, 2020.  He’s getting more and more comfortable “acting out” as only Ruler Mars in Aries can.  Last week, Mars moved into a conjunction with Chiron. Every 2 years or so Mars and Chiron meet like this.  It’s no big deal, necessarily.  But, since 2012 those conjunctions have all been in Pisces.  This cycle is the first of 4 conjunctions in Aries, ruled by Mars.

I’m already exhausted.

In the early phases of a new (synodic) cycle, it’s best to observe and notice what is going on.  That’s a lot to do right there.  Noticing.  There is much that gets past our wandering minds/bodies.

The Salon for Astrological Discourse meets again Friday, July 31 at 4pm.  We’ll be discussing this cycle and it’s impact on current events.  Go here if you want to join us.

A long time ago I created the word timescaping….it’s a verb.  I couldn’t find it anywhere else, and I researched it, so I’m ready to take ownership of this word, now.  It describes the act of perceiving time as  cyclical & multi-dimensional, not linear, which is how a majority of us see it.  The word implies, by intention, that we can have an effect on time, just as time effects us.  We can speed it up or slow it down, almost at will.   It’s much, much harder to manage time for those that retain the linear perspective of absolute beginnings & absolute endings.   Of course, that’s silly, because many, many things do end.  Absolutely.  And yet, the invisible, energetic, impulses & sparks do live on if there’s any karma around it at all.

After decades of research, life experience, and risky experiments, I came to believe that living one’s daily life according the cycles of the Moon, (and other cycles too, taken as a ‘whole’ picture perspective), is a far superior way to organize one’s activities then adhering to just calendars & clocks,  Apple watches included

The Salon for Astrological Discourse is meeting again this week.  How to move thru “time” is our primary study.  It doesn’t matter what you know or don’t know about astrology.  There’s always something to learn.  Join us online.

Even those who know little about astrology have probably heard of the infamous “Mercury Retrograde”.

Here’s a list of articles in the New York Times, of all places.

It’s definitely true and accurate that during the 3-weeks (9 thru out the year) this planet appears to move backward,  an illusion explained better here, things go wonky here on earth.  Astrologers, such as myself, can accurately predict when and where in one’s life this retro-active period will manifest.  If you are a therapist (one who ministers), of any kind, you can help your clients/students/peers prepare and use if for the best possible outcome.  It’s not all bad. In fact it can be a very productive time for re-do’s.  Don’t judge it, is good advice.  Yoga Therapy provides good results as it teaches us how to stay centered amidst a swirling, confusing environment.

Symbolic Mercury (The Messenger) governs most things that require mental energy.  Thinking, writing, reading, speaking, listening and all the tools to do those things:  pens, pencils, sticks, computers, television….  Post Offices, Information Services, Libraries….all Mercurial places experience unexpected disruptions  during this time.  Yesterday, I was standing at a cash register with a human attending it when the card reader started spitting my card out with a nasty buzzing sound.  The human said, “It’s been doing that all day!”.  She’d never seen that happen before.  She wasn’t having a ‘good’ day.   We took a breath together, and I finally got out of the store.  Mercury retrograde shows up everywhere….if/when you know how/where to look.  Studying astrology trains the mind in ways that are really helpful.  It is believed by many that studying astrology prevents mental illness.  Mental illness and all kinds of mental states can also be investigated thru the placement of Mercury, natal & by transit.

Mercury is in Pisces for this first retrograde period in 2020.   Hah!!  Forget about study and logic with that placement.  Pisces is a poet, not an analyst. But, that doesn’t make Pisces wrong…..or right.  Their mental pathways towards decisions, choices, and impulses are different from the other zodiac signs.  Pisces represents the sum total of everything learned from all the other zodiac signs.  Pisces represents the “all”,  the collective unconscious, and it does so non-verbally thru spiritual experiences as well as addictive behaviors and other means of operation. Mercury here can be challenging for those who have no regard for intuition, psychic phenomena, spiritual practices, or artistic pursuits.  Institutions such as: prisons, hospitals, campuses, monasteries, ashrams, etc.  may also have a rough time with this retrograde period.   As for me I plan to work on some older, left behind watercolor paintings as well as my collection of creative non-fiction pieces.

As a college student I did a research project on intuition.  Where it comes from.  How to develop it.  Astrology guided me in understanding how intuition played a part in my life.  Yoga taught me how to recognize intuition from busy-mind thinking.  Meditation helps me find still-mind.

May this retrograde period bring peace and ease of mind.

Om shanti, shanti, shantihi.

at 4:42 pm if you’re on the East Coast.  It’s in Aquarius where nothing is ‘predictable’ except when it is.  It’s a peculiar zodiac sign and points out that which always feels a little bit….off.    I wonder what this next 28 days will bring.  Be alert around Feb 1-3 for something ‘dramatic’.

Remember Eris?  I like checking in on her periodically.  She’s still in Aries, and will remain there until 2044-ish. The transition from Aries to Taurus takes time to settle in, maybe like moving from one state-of-being to a different one.  She’s an irritant, and a trouble-maker. She likes to stir up rivalries, especially between siblings or cousins.  She sows misinformation, disinformation, and outright lies. Her finger points at you.  And, she is dangerously seductive.  Drugs, alcohol and other mood-altering substances may tone her down, or up, but they’re not necessary for her to act-out or manipulate someone else.   She carries with her a daggar, a hissing snake, and/or a burning torch.  She’s responsible for starting the Trojan War.

Her zodiacal placements will show you where you need to build: strength, ferocity, and backbone.  Ugh.

I’ve been tracking her since 2006 and if you put in “Eris” on the search bar you can read all my posts.  This  particular post in 2012 helps to put today in perspective.

Mars, ruler of Aries, represents the God of War, masculine style.  Eris, in mythology, is his counterpart, feminine version, a Goddess of War.    Mars demands. Acts assertively, and sometimes aggressively in pursuit of his desires, wants, and entitlements.  As I write this, Mars is in Sagittarious heating up media stuff.  Watch what happens in about 5-6 weeks when Mars joins Saturn/Pluto/Jupiter/Lunar Nodes in Capricorn.

Meanwhile, Eris has reached the 24th degree. This adds a new spin on our interpretations for Eris.  The astrological mandala known as the Sabian Symbols as interpreted by Dane Rudhyar says,

“Blown inward by the wind, the curtains of an open window take the shape of a cornucopia.”

This suggests an ‘openness to the influx of spiritual energies’.   ..the individual consciousness represented by (wherever you have Aries in your chart), is receiving a more concentrated influx of spiritual energy.

And, there are influences.  Until recently, Uranus was in Aries too, 2011-2019, and since his cycle is 84 years chances are you will not have to live thru *that* kind of extreme turbulence again.  Interestingly, Chiron, our Wounded Healer, also entered Aries in March of 2019.  This might indeed add to your pain threshold and open some old wounds,  the significence of Chiron here is on healing as opposed to curing.   Chiron’s cycle is ~50 years so if you are near to that age Chiron becomes the something you need to look at.  Consult your astrologer.

It’s a complicated time and there are blessings in the sky as well.   Neptune in Pisces will indeed enter in thru open windows.  Spiritual healing is available to the masses as well as individuals. What we can do is create the willingness to connect to spiritual energy and let go of the outcome.

Namaste.

Astrology Eris

I  can’t even tell you how excited I am to be presenting this program at Kripalu Center in October.  It is literally a dream come true!
My history with Kripalu goes back many decades….so far in fact that it certainly does seem as though destiny has had a hand in everything.  I received their very first catalog in the mail sometime in the late 80’s. But it wasn’t until circa 1992 that I walked thru the door.  I was a full-time, frustrated, stressed out Real Estate Broker & Trainer then. It was August and I was taking The Mystical Path of Yoga with Yoganand. on the recommendation of my local yoga teacher. Nearly everyone but me in the program was a working yoga teacher.  It was an unexpected life-changing experience .   My real interest in going was to meet the guru, Amrit Desai, but, that wouldn’t happen until 2017,.  Still, yoga became an integral part of my life from that point forward.
When I arrived, the receptionist asked me about my employment  and I declared at that moment I was an astrologer.  It wasn’t a lie.  I had a small, side gig going on offering Feng Shui & Astrological Consults.   My expertise in Feng Shui made being in the RE industry tolerable and provided many unusual opportunities to teach, consult, and do research on the art/science.   My avocation was preferable to my vocation.
Over the next 25+ years I returned to Kripalu Center so often I probably should have moved there!   My Karma Yoga included many different jobs, ie. yoga teacher, facilitator, a/v assistant, musician.  I took over 1000 hrs of YTT and worked as a faculty assistant to the many different Yoga presenters that taught at Kripalu .
All said, it was my work within the Inner Quest Intensive under the direction of Aruni Nan Futuronsky that has informed my own teaching of yoga & yoga therapy.   Through my experiences facilitating that program I became particularly interested in yoga (therapy) for mental health, recovery, and spiritual development.  I’ve written a lot of short stories detailing many of my experiences along this Sun/Jupiter line and I look forward to more to tell.
So now, I get to present my own program, which literally took a saturn cycle to imagine, create, and now finally deliver.   I hope you’ll check it out and share the news with like-minded friends.
It’s a program for everyone and you don’t need to know much of anything about astrology or yoga to take it.
The topics we cover are universal; birth/death/loss/fate/change/relationships/health/spirituality.  Life, as it is.  All that is needed is curiosity and a desire to know yourself better.
Possibilities for healing, personal growth, expanded consciousness, spiritual development are inherent in the work.
At the very least you’ll come home with a new plan for time management and stress relief.
