Tomorrow is the first of a series of experiential workshops using the astrological natal chart as tool for self-inquiry and self-development.  It’s been quite a ride for me personally, as I have chosen to follow the stars for most of my life.

These days Uranus is conjunct my mid-heaven and moving in towards a conjunction with the  NN.  Neptune is conjunct SN natally. Obviously, things are changing.  Unknown territory looms ahead for me.  Thanks to the stars,  Pluto is finally past my moon.  Om shanti.

The outer planets, along with all things lunar, have captured my attention for decades.  As a working astrologer who reads charts for individuals, I am also particularly interested in Time, time-measurement, time-management, time-keeping, and what I call Time-Scaping, which is what happens once we have mastered our personal relationship with time and create a life-rhythm which is sustainable.  The cycles of the planets along with the orbit of the moon provide the raw data that is needed.

Anyway, I digress.  Tomorrow’s workshop will tackle the idea that the Lunar Nodes represent our Soul’s Purpose in this incarnation. We’ll look at the nodes in our respective natal charts and discuss it.  Then we’ll take our new found information and practice being our ‘true selves’ using various yogic techniques.

I’ve been doing this work for a lifetime already, and I still get excited when I see the look of “enlightenment” come over someone’s face.  That sudden expression brought on by the combination of insight, understanding, and joy is unmistakeable.

and there’s a storm brewing named Saturn.  It can’t get any more metaphorical, can it?  Today, at 2:15pm est, (about to become edt) the moon conjoins pluto.  It’ll be an intense moment for some, so intense that it has the potential to transform you.  Indelibly.

The Sabian Symbol is:

A PREGNANT WOMAN IN LIGHT SUMMER’S DRESS with the Keynote word as “Fecundity”  Dane Rudyhar goes on to write about this degree. “This is the third stage of the fifth five-fold sequence of cyclic phases,  It combines the two preceding ones and suggests INNER FULFILLMENT.”

hRMpf!  Not with Saturn there, that’s for sure! It’s been a rough time for Earth’s population.   Eris, the goddess of strife, is all about tension and the zodiac sign of  Aries is always ready for action. (more tension) Being opposed (180 degrees of separation) for so long(months, and month, and months!) has certainly brought  a keener understanding that the rules and obligations we have been living under have , just perhaps, become irrelevant?

Saturn will be moving into Scorpio in early Oct.  Eris will be less restricted in manifesting some inner fulfillment then.

Maybe?

May all beings be kind. May all beings be in peace.  May all beings live in ease. ,

sunconjerisRemember Eris?  The goddess of chaos , strife, and rivalry.  It didn’t matter where she went.  It didn’t matter who started what, when, or whether she participated, or not.  Chaos.  Strife.  Everywhere. Outside the home.  Inside the home.  Outside in the world.  Everywhere.  Eris in Aries stirs things up.  She thrives on stress, emergencies, and high alert states.

If you were born between 1940 – 1949 then Uranus is moving into a conjunction with your natal Eris and that should make for some interesting and unexpected changes.  Let me know what happens!

This  all feels  potentially volatile  to me, and yet fraught with  exciting possibilities that have not quite yet been revealed.  There’s no knowing the outcome, we can only be present for the process.  The cycle of Uranus takes 84 years;  Eris – 557 years.

2012 continues to be a very significant year in so many ways.

The zodiac sign of Aries fires up the unpredictableness of all this chaotic strife.  Fire signs do that.  Heat things up.  And, with Aries it can get out of control really fast because innocent impulses are like that.  Fortunately, there’s enough water present in the current configurations to balance it out………..a bit.

Mars aspects gives us lots of ways it can all go.  Make your choices.  Stop the war.

A beggar had been sitting by the side of the road for over thirty years. One day a stranger walked by.
“Spare some change?” mumbled the beggar, mechanically holding out his baseball cap.“I have nothing to give you,” said the stranger. Then he added, “What’s that you are sitting on?”
“Nothing,” replied the beggar, “Just an old box.I have been sitting on it for as long as I can remember.”
“Ever look inside?” asked the stranger.

“What’s the point? There’s nothing in there.”

“Have a look inside,” insisted the stranger.

The beggar managed to pry open the lid.

With astonishment, disbelief, and elation, he saw the box was filled with gold.Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment, Novato CA, 1999; p. 9

Let’s come together this Sunday, January 8 and resume our practices of loving-kindness.  We begin in silence, so please remove your shoes and place them on the rack before you enter.  Come in, find an empty space and sit down.  We sit silently from 3pm until approximately 3:30, at which time we will begin discourse & discussion.

Metta (loving-kindness) practice will start around 4:15pm.

We’ll close with the following chant:

असतो मा सद्गमय ।
तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय ।।
मृत्योर्मामृतं गमय ।
ॐ शान्ति शान्ति शान्ति ।। – बृहदारण्यक उपनिषद् 1.3.28.

I love the holidays and celebrations that occur around lunar & solar cycles.  Regardless of whatever language, or instrument, or food that’s being served, there’s still that *something else* that sets the air tingling around you.

Do you hear it?

Ancient Wisdom

Time is a horse that moves with seven rays,

with a thousand eyes, undecaying,

who projects a manifold seed.

Him the seers mount, illumined in mind.

His wheels are all the worlds.

Time moves seven wheels.

He has seven mouths, whose center is immortal and undecaying.

He anoints himself with all these worlds.  He moves as the first of the Gods.

A full vessel is set in time.

May we who live see his manifold forms.

He faces all the worlds, who, the seers say,

is time

in the supreme

void.  He gathered all the worlds together.

He encompasses all the universe.

As their father, he became their son,

apart from whom there is no other light.
