Beyond Words
Communication Skills from
the Higher Mind
Webster defines
communication as a process by
which information is exchanged between individuals through a common
system of
symbols, signs, or behavior. Experts report that 93% of all
communication is non-verbal. And,
since most
non-verbal communication is a result of unconscious intent information
is frequently miss-communicated unknowingly. Our minds and our bodies
are often
on two different wavelengths sending out mixed messages. To those
trying to
understand us, it creates the same subtle confusion as seeing the sun
shine at
the same time that it’s raining.
As professionals,
many of us have spent years honing our skills of marketing and
negotiating. We know our jobs and we know our clients and
customers. But, how well do we know
ourselves, and in particular the ways in which our words are heard by
others? Do we effectively communicate what we
know? And how does it sound to
others? Does it sound confident and professional? Or does
it come across rather like the verbal
swagger of the proverbial ‘used car salesman’? (no offense intended!)
Is there clarity in our words? Do we speak
from power or from ignorance? Is there compassion? We
often jeopardize our business
relationships by ignoring the unconscious content of the communication
process.
Anyone who has ever studied the
arts of communication will tell you that listening is more important
than
speaking. And yet few of us ever really learned how to listen well. Hearing is not the same as listening. Are you
listening as well as you
can? Can you hear what is NOT being
said? Non-verbal communication skills
are an essential tool for everyone.
This program helps you to develop
more awareness of the non-verbal component of communication. Using a
variety of
techniques from NLP, Yoga & Buddhist Meditation you will learn how
to
listen with the whole body and find the right words, with the right
tone, and
the right spirit at the right time.
This
topic can be
delivered either as a lecture, training class, experiential workshop or
seminar.
